Job Description

This assignment posting is for an Agency Worker opportunity with Dotdash Meredith. The Agency Worker is paid by a staffing agency employer. Agency Workers will receive a W2 from the staffing agency reporting their earnings for tax purposes.The Home Brand Design team at Dotdash Meredith helps define the visual brand execution for BHG, The Spruce, Real Simple, Southern Living, and Martha Stewart. We are building engaging experiences that excite users and amplify the voice of our brands. We are looking for a Digital Designer to work closely with our Associate Art Director, visual editors, designers, and editorial leads to craft cohesive digital brand design experiences. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to create strong visual designs that support our Digital content strategy and engage and delight our audiences. As a Digital Designer at Dotdash Meredith you will be responsible for doing competitive research, designing the look and feel of various brand elements and refining and iterating on those ideas for various stakeholders. Assignment Details: 35 hours per weekStart date: ASAP after June 5thEnd date: Approximately January 3rd, 2025Hourly Rate: $45/hrLocation: Remote - US, New York DDM Office, Des Moines DDM Office, Seattle DDM OfficeAssignment Responsibilities:
  • Help maintain cohesive expressions of visual identities for multiple brands.
  • Take ownership of assigned design projects, collaborate with stakeholders and other designers, take direction from Creative/Art Directors, and follow established processes to ensure smooth delivery of creative assets.
  • Create digital production art including illustrations, photo treatments, and social media assets.
  • Concept and produce custom artwork as directed for various digital brand channels including Editorial, Social, Video, and Growth.
  • Collaborate with UX design team and Design Operations team as needed.
70%Design
  • Use requirements and stakeholder feedback to produce design assets such as illustrations, editorial images, and social graphics.
20%Collaborate with Editorial and Growth teams
  • Attend meetings with stakeholders from editorial, social, video, and growth teams.
  • Attend Recurring Design Team meetings and other group functions.
  • Present design solutions and help build consensus among a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Participate in brainstorming and critique sessions that foster big-picture thinking while identifying opportunities to raise the bar on the details.
10%Process Management
  • Keep project management tickets up to date, communicate progress, keep files organized, follow slack channels, and meet deadlines.
Skills/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and experience
  • 1-3 years as a designer
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong typography skills
  • Strong editorial design skills
  • Illustration skills, including the ability to draw in multiple styles
  • Motion design/animation skills a plus
  • Publishing industry experience a plus
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A team player ready to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of Figma a plus but not essential
