Job Description

Manufacturing Manager / Production Coordinator For the EMEA/LA Manufacturing team, Elsevier is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Manager to coordinate and follow up on the manufacturing process of Books, Journals and Pharma products. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and organizing of the PPB process and dealing with suppliers. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who is looking to further expand their manufacturing experience in an international and dynamic environment and who is ready to make an impact on our production processes! You will be based in Paris, Barcelona or Munich, some travel between sites might be required. You will report directly to the Head of Manufacturing EMEA/LA. Your responsibilities
  • Coordinate production of French, German and Spanish books and journals
  • Manage printing and binding activities
  • Manage orders and relations with suppliers involved in any product; arrange follow-up meetings with suppliers
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting on supplier performance; engage in supplier-review discussions
  • Manage legal deposits
  • Review invoices forwarded to Oracle
  • Prepare reports (PPM and Gestor)
  • Update and maintain databases/internal systems to provide accurate and timely data to managers and other stakeholders
  • Quality control; review every product before printing
  • Visual quality control after finalizing the production process; review products and check for faults/mistakes

What you will bring

  • 5+ years of experience in a production/manufacturing role

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Fluency in English and one other language (French, German and/or Spanish)

  • Extensive experience in manufacturing, preferably in a printing house

  • Extensive knowledge of PPB processes for books, journals and/or pharma products

  • Knowledge of Gestor in all its Production capabilities

  • In-depth knowledge of printer and binder tariffs and its applications

  • In-depth knowledge of quoting for Journals, Pharma, Books reprints and Pharma books

  • Knowledge of paper grades, qualities and paper vendors
