Job Description

Working in Application Support means you'll use both creative and critical thinking skills to maintain application systems that are crucial to the daily operations of the firm. You'll work collaboratively in teams on a wide range of projects based on your primary area of focus: design or programming. While learning to fix application and data issues as they arise, you'll also gain exposure to software development, testing, deployment, maintenance and improvement, in addition to production lifecycle methodologies and risk guidelines. This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • Basic knowledge of application development
  • Working knowledge in one or more general purpose programming languages, plus an interest in learning other coding languages and skills as needed. This role does not involve Software development but the ability to dig through software code, to identify bugs and inefficient code, suggesting alternatives will be a plus.
  • Working knowledge of development toolset to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software.
  • Systems in operation, including tasks related to identifying and troubleshooting application issues and issues resolution or escalation. You will also be expected to provide guidance and support to team members.
  • Root cause analysis, management communication and client relationship management in partnership with Infrastructure Service Support team members
  • Ensures all production changes are made in accordance with lifecycle methodology and risk guidelines
  • Experience with Service Delivery Model, Technical Problem Resolution, Network & Infrastructure
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals Manage and communicate high impacting production issues across complex, customer facing enterprise applications.
  • Leverage production support findings to identify and implement automation initiatives that reduce toil and eliminate customer impact. Implement robust monitoring and self-healing solutions that detect and resolve issues before they are visible to users or customers
  • Act as the custodian of the production environment and adhere to and promote strict project lifecycle methodologies while ensuring all relevant change management procedures are being followed. Interact with various teams to ensure a stable production environment, including but not limited to client facing support, application developers, business analysts, infrastructure, build & deployment and quality assurance.
  • Experience working in a Mainframe environment is a plus. Knowledge of CA-7 Scheduler, Job Control Language (JCL), Failure Status Codes (IMS, DB2, VSAM), SORT Utility, CICS Transactions, Websphere on ZOS, CA-7 etc.
  • Experience with Monitoring Tools such as Splunk, Wily, Dynatrace or Geneos. Working knowledge of BMC Mainview is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Technology such as AWS, Cloud Foundry or Google Cloud
  • Excellent working knowledge of production support role, incident, and change management. Excellence in at least one Scripting Language like VB Script, or Shell Scripting.
