Job Summary:
Under general supervision, uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to balance various computer systems. Identifies and researches any out of balance conditions, between several sub ledgers and general ledger system. Evaluation, originality and ingenuity are required to locate, select and apply appropriate procedures, processes and techniques to specific assignments. Resolves or recommends solutions to moderately complex problems. Regular contact with various departments as required to identify, research and resolve accounting issues and problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Balances output of various systems specific to Raymond James, such as SIS and PeopleSoft with related general ledger accounts.
• Researches and recommends process to correct out of balance conditions. Trace problems to the source.
• Creates ad hoc reports under short timeframes and with minimal direction and supervision.
• Analyzes and reconciles various general ledger accounts and financial reports.
• Processes Information Systems Requests (ISRs) as requested, after analyzing potential adverse effect on SIS ledger, waterfall process or client statements.
• Monitors assigned suspense accounts on a daily basis.
• Provides system overview orientation for new Accounting department associates.
• Creates test scripts, involved in testing custom applications.
• Works with department supervisors and associates as needed to design spreadsheets & databases to improve processes; perform system audits to validate user entitlements, create Business Object reports and/or procedural documentation.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:

• Basic accounting concepts, practices and procedures.
• Accrual based accounting practices.
• Brokerage operations (inventory and commission blotters, stock record, and customer accounts) preferred.
• Communication skills sufficient to determine needs and document changes.
Skill in:
• Resolving unusual transaction and accounting discrepancies.
• Preparing financial reconciliations and management reports.
• Microsoft Office applications sufficient to create and maintain documents, letters, spreadsheets and email.
• Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, spreadsheets and complex databases.

Ability to:
• Communicate both written and verbal to various stakeholders.
• Implement changes to standard procedures when required by specific situations and circumstances.
• Recommend solutions complex accounting problems.
• Explain or clarify financial information to all levels of management.
• Provide training to others as needed.
• Organize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
• Provide a high level of customer service

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems or related field and a minimum of 1 (one) year of accounting or accounting systems experience.
