The Etsy Internal Audit (IA) provides assurance to the Board of Directors and Executive Management that Etsy’s businesses are well run and meeting strategic, operational and risk management goals. We are searching for an Internal Audit Manager who will engage with all Etsy teams, including senior leadership, to understand and advise on risk across the organization and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls; you will collaborate with our Product, Engineering/IT, Finance, Legal, Marketing, International, and People, Strategy & Services teams to enhance and strengthen the overall control environment at Etsy. This role is based in Brooklyn, New York reporting to the Senior Director, Internal Audit.

About the Role

    • Collaborate with the Senior Director and lead IA activities related to completion of Etsy’s annual audit plan
    • Support oversight of the co-/out-sourced Sarbanes Oxley team to monitor general progress and facilitate control deficiency remediation
    • Develop relationships across the company help identify emerging internal and external risks
    • Support annual and continuous risk assessment activities
    • Manage the IA team schedule
    • Plan, scope and execute operational, financial and integrated audits; including reviews of new and enhanced products and services, and process changes
    • Review team members’ work to ensure documentation related to all stages of audit projects is consistent with IIA and internal standards
    • Prepare clear, high quality audit work papers to document procedures performed and conclusions reached
    • Understand complex business and technology flows and controls, and their impact on downstream processes, reporting and metrics
    • Design and execute tests around controls, including data analysis and control re-performance
    • Identify and evaluate risks and control gaps; identify contributing factors
    • Report control gaps and other improvements to management; use data to support pragmatic remediation suggestions
    • Oversee follow-up of open audit issues
    • Collaborate within the IA team to develop audit templates, standards and guidelines
    • Mentor junior members of the team and identify development opportunities for them

About You

    • Have 6+ years of progressive audit experience in Big 4 public accounting, and/or a fast-growing mid-tier company, including at least 1-2 years of leading small teams
    • Experience within a publicly-traded and/or e-commerce or technology related company
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, or in an equivalent area
    • CPA, and/or CIA certification; CISA certification preferable
    • Extensive controls experience combined with a good knowledge of process & control design evaluation
    • You have experience testing controls and identifying exceptions
    • Familiar with audit data analytics tools and techniques (e.g., ACL, Tableau, SQL queries, Python)
    • Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills; especially report writing
    • You think ahead, anticipate questions, independently assess risk, and think critically and creatively
    • Highly organized and able to work flexibly; you can handle changing priorities in a dynamic, rapidly growing and fluid organization
    • Deep understanding and working experience of COSO, IIA and other risk and control frameworks
    • Comfortable working in a small team in a casual yet disciplined environment and can collaborate well across the organization
