Job Description

We are currently seeking a self-motivated Engineer to join our Air Quality Engineering Group within RTI’s Environmental Engineering and Economics Division. Candidate will be an air quality professional and will provide technical program support for government and commercial clients including the U.S. EPA’s Sector Policies and Programs Division (SPPD) and Climate Change Division (CCD). The successful candidate will report directly to a Staff Manager of the Air Quality Engineering group. Responsibilities • Assist in the development of Federal air quality regulations. • Develop emissions inventories for hazardous air pollutants and greenhouse gases (GHGs). • Identify and evaluate options for reducing GHG emissions from industrial sources. • Evaluate compliance with domestic and international environmental rules. • Assess performance and costs of air pollution control equipment and emissions monitoring methods. • Interpret and apply standard scientific or engineering theories, concepts, and techniques. • Perform research tasks of significant technical complexity, developing and implementing innovative and creative technical solutions to research problems, questions, and issues. • Direct and oversee information gathering; reviews technical data and information summaries. • Communicate with project teams of subcontractors, engineers, and technicians. • Abide by all environmental, safety, and health guidelines. Qualifications • BS (or higher) in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or technical discipline (related engineering or science degree) • 0 - 2 years related project experience • Cover letter preferred This is an entry level position Candidate must be available to start full time work in the next six weeks. Relocation assistance not available for this position. NC candidates preferred. • Experience with Title V source permitting, air emissions inventories, Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program, National Ambient Air Quality Standards, and National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants • Engineer in Training (EIT) registration (preferred, but not required) • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills • Computer spreadsheet and database skills (particularly Excel and Access) • Demonstrated technical writing ability (required) • Flexibility to work collaboratively as part of a project team. • To Qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status. #LI-KV1
