Overview

The Development Associate provides operational and administrative support to the Director of Development (DoD) at the Clinton Presidential Center, as well as coordinates assigned aspects of the Center’s annual giving/membership program(s) consistent with established goals and plans. The position serves as a first point of contact for the department and provides support for Development events, meetings, and other projects related to the engagement, solicitation, and stewardship of current and prospective donors.

Responsibilities

Assists DoD in developing and executing the Center's approved plans and meeting or exceeding fundraising goals; supports the DoD's solicitation and cultivation efforts to maintain key relationships individuals, corporate, and foundation donors; coordinating solicitation mailings and similar activities.

Assists DoD in growing and retaining partners and members in the Center's membership program including coordination and tracking of new and renewed memberships; manages timely acknowledgements and fulfillment of donor/member recognition and benefits.

Conducts research on prospective donors/funders and prepares requisite briefing materials/reports for the DoD and/or Executive Director in support of their donor engagement efforts. Routinely utilizes Foundation’s donor database, including for prospect clearance, vetting, contact reports, tracking of solicitations, proposals, and reports. Makes regular and timely updates to biographical/contact information.

Supports the DOD and the New York-based Corporate/Foundation Partnerships team in the preparation and submission of grant and sponsorship proposals; maintains calendar of grant submission deadlines and report due dates.

Supports the DoD in the preparation of fundraising collateral, direct mail and digital fundraising appeals, correspondence, prepared remarks, reports, and memoranda; collaborates extensively with Communications team and New York Development team as appropriate.

Assists the DoD and other team members in planning and coordinating fundraising events and events in support of donor cultivation and/or stewardship.

Assists DoD with financial record-keeping and budget management, including invoices, pledge reminders, reimbursements, travel arrangements, vendor management, and fundraising reporting. Tracks and processes donations received. Assist with special projects and liaises with other teams/departments as assigned.

Qualifications

Education (Minimum Required): Bachelor's degree

Minimum Required: 2 years of relevant work experience in a professional office environment.

Preferred: Direct experience in a support or frontline fundraising role as part of a Development team and/or similar experience in a nonprofit or other client-centered environment.

Specialized knowledge: Strong organizational and communication skills. Understanding of fundamentals of a Development office, a charitable foundation, museum or similar organization.

Skills: Strong work ethic and follow-through. Positive attitude and excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Ability to work in a team and independently. Flexibility to multi-task and prioritize, manage time effectively, and utilize troubleshooting skills.

Special Skills (Technical or Advanced): Above-average computer skills – proficiency in Microsoft Office, knowledge of Blackbaud CRM and/or similar CRM/donor database.

Other: Integrity, dedication, discretion, ability to develop unique and innovative ideas, ability to work under tight deadlines.

Additional Comments: Ability to work in a varying schedule including nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays.

Physical and Other Requirements

Office Environment: Constant computer work requiring repetitive motion, prolonged sitting and sustained visual/mental demands. Occasional lifting, bending, pulling, collating, and filing, some of which may be heavy (>15 lbs.) and require use of carts.
