About the Role

Our safety team is growing and we're looking for a safety leader who will help protect against catastrophic accident, reputation/financial loss, ensure Nuro meets and exceeds industry standards for AV safety and lead our robot safety strategy.

About the Work

  • Participate in routine operations and fleet management hazard analysis and risk assessment activities (ride-alongs, process audits, training audits, workshops, etc.)
  • Create required regulatory documentation for operations, such as California disengagement reports, Law Enforcement Interaction Plans/Protocols and Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance documentation
  • Conduct safety assessments focused on operations/fleet safety and process improvements, such as operator training protocols, operator assistance features, real-time operator monitoring, fleet management process and tools, field engineering process and tools and customer safety protocols
  • Provide oversight of design and test methods to assure compliance with applicable operations/fleet-related internal safety policy, industry standards, regulation, performance metrics and thresholds
  • Provide oversight of operations/fleet implementation of new hardware/software features, operations processes and execution of operational safety strategy associated with new partnerships

About You

  • Excellent understanding of safety methodologies & practices
  • Technical Program or project management experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Transportation or a related field

Bonus Points

  • Experience in predictive and proactive measures and metrics assessments and leading actions to improve performance or mitigate problems
  • Practical knowledge of systems engineering, reliability and system safety requirements
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards to include Environment, Health, Safety and Quality policies.
  • First Aid/Responder certification
