As a Senior Firmware Engineer on the Camera Firmware Team, you will be working on Samsara’s fleet camera products (including dash cams and other related products). In this role you will take on challenges ranging from component selection, camera performance optimization, technology evaluation, BSP integration, board bringup, and sustaining products in the field.

A Senior Firmware Engineer, Camera Firmware will:

• Work holistically on next generation camera product platform firmware - this includes driving product requirements (vision, compute, connect), architecture, validation, bring-up and integration
• Develop low level device drivers for advanced image processing pipeline in embedded systems for the latest SoC blocks, chipsets in Apple
• Work with algorithm team to design and develop algorithms to control CMOS image sensors, ISP pipeline and machine learning pipeline
• Optimize image processing algorithms to enhance system performance
• Work on HW validation and provide firmware support to factory testing. You will also implement features to support hardware testing and diagnosis
• Bring-up and support integration of hardware platform peripherals such as ISP, DSP, IMU, GPU, etc.
• Design and optimize systems to balance power, thermals and performance
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Obsess Over the Customer, Build for the Long Term, Growth Mindset) as we scale globally and across new offices

An ideal candidate has:

• Has a successful background as a senior firmware engineer and launched successful camera based products.
• Has experience with embedded camera systems, with image processing, quality and tuning, ISP integration, computer / thermal constraints
• Has experience with Nvidia or Qualcomm vision platforms
• Understands the value of team culture, communication, and collaboration
• Experience developing individual contributors based on their needs and interests as well as the needs of the company
