Overview

It seems that everything is connected these days and our restaurants are no different. We are busy connecting all types of restaurant equipment into our custom restaurant IoT platform. Doing so will allow us to maintain a dynamic and reliable asset management system, deploy updates without site visits, and unlock rich data across the chain.

The Chick-fil-A Software Engineering III, Smart Equipment Ecosystem role will give you the opportunity to grow in a fast-paced dynamic environment solving high-impact problems using code. In this role, you will serve on a small, product-focused team. You will be expected to be a key contributor to your team’s product, working on complex tasks with minimal supervision while assisting others on your team who may not be as far along on their engineering journey. The team maintains our Restaurant IoT SDK which allows vendors to develop equipment which participates in our ecosystem. They also provide system integrations and interfaces for equipment maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a proficient developer in programming languages like Go, Java, Python, and JavaScript, adept in frameworks like Spring, Flask, Angular, and React
  • Have broad capabilities in a variety of such languages and frameworks or a deep expertise in at least one language and framework or other area like computer vision, machine learning, mobile development, quality, SRE, or UI/UX
  • Exercise skills related to AWS, Kubernetes, and CI/CD to help the overall team

Note - Working in a DevOps model, this opportunity includes both building and running solutions that could require off hours support. This support is shared amongst the team members to cover weekends and weeknights.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years of related professional experience
  • Broad, or deep, programming experience in Java, JavaScript, Python, or other comparable language(s)
  • Experience with SQL and data modeling
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with Agile principles as applied to software development
  • Good interpersonal and team collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
  • Experience working with an agile development methodology featuring sprints, points estimation, and daily standups
  • Familiarity with version control systems and code merging/branching; specific experience with git desirable
  • Experience with Internet of Things (IoT) connected environments
  • Experience with Unix/Linux
  • Familiar with various cloud technologies
