The primary purpose of this role is to define short-term product strategy (current to next release) and market requirements in-line with the mid-to-long term vision of the Product in support of the company's business and marketing goals.

This position will work on innovation next generation cloud platforms while also helping team sustain existing legacy platforms. Ultimately, this role will help drive a cohesive product planning process working with the agile product owners\business analyst, engineering, architecture, services, sales, and support.

Responsibilities

The role will include performing and coordinating market and product research to gain insight into industry and market trends, needs, competitive advantage and developing products people love to use and buy. Essential functions include:

  • Product Experience and Value: The Product Director is responsible for the development of short-term product strategy (current to next release) that is in-line with the mid-to-long term vision of the Product Strategy team. Working in collaboration with this team the Product Director will develop features, functions and requirements that drive a great product experience and high value for our clients
  • Product Goals and Themes: The Product Director will develop key goals related to user experience, quality, usability, reliability, security, scalability, ease-of-use, installation and responsiveness that exceeds client and market expectations for each product in their charge. The Product Director will also develop key product themes that are to act as the foundational messaging for marketing and other corporate constituents. The Product Director will perform market studies in order to ascertain and validate their approach
  • Client Engagement: The Product Director will lead Technical Design Workshops and other forums to solicit feedback, directional guidance, and validation of their product direction using a variety of tools and approaches. Clients are both internal and external to Allscripts
  • Product Evangelism: The Product Director is the chief evangelist for their product assuring that the current product is being adopted by the market by coordinating activities across our field organization and continually being the champion for the product
  • Focused on the development and identification of product requirements based on internal and external client feedback as well as through direct observation and assessment of industry trends
  • Ensures the quality, design, experience and value of current products in the market as well as the next product in development
  • Part evangelist and part visionary the Product Director works closely with the Product Strategy team and other areas of the company to assure that long term vision becomes a reality, by developing solutions that embody the key themes of our product direction
  • Able to apply strong domain expertise in a creative and innovative manner in order to assure that Allscripts is building world class products in-line with client, market and government regulations on an international scale
  • Collaborates closely with the Program Manager to assure the product is on-track, on-budget and moving in-line with expected quality and design targets
  • Identifies prioritization of features and manages feature trade-off
  • Provides key messaging on the product
  • Responsible for field readiness
  • Responsible for managing feature enhancements
  • Identifying and evaluating the impact of quality on a product and assure a high quality and satisfying experience for our clients
  • Highly critical of product design and usability
  • Identify and recruit internal/external talents to ensure effective mix of competencies
  • Induct new joiners in order to quickly maximize performance
  • Set and communicate team/individual objectives and KPI to inspire individuals to achieve high performance
  • Allocate workload to fully utilize every employee's talent
  • Implement development plans and coach for individuals to reach their maximum talent
  • Provide regular constructive feedback on performance/development and address poor/mediocre performance on a timely manner
  • Recognize high performers to maintain motivation and retain key talent
  • Regularly communicate on company news and team progress against business plan
  • Create team spirit

Qualifications

Academic and professional qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, IT, Marketing, Finance, or business related field
  • MBA strongly preferred

Experience:

  • Strong domain expertise in-line with their product area of specialty
  • A minimum of at least 5+ years demonstrated success in revenue generation, product management, and/or partnership development
  • Understands the competitive product mix and emerging players and solutions in the market
  • Understands the solutions, design and feature mix in the market/competitive products
  • Has a fair idea of broad brush of competitive products in the market and product extensions there-in
  • Can analyze the market gaps in product portfolio and recommend stages of product development
  • Should be able to use workflow tools, brain storming and visualization tools and techniques
  • Ability to lead design forums and requirements gathering workshops
  • Should be able to create storyboards and interface with Architecture/Design groups effectively
  • Should be able to produce product road-maps using AllscriptsDNA along with features and designs based on different stages of the product
  • Should be able to interact with customers, partners, market consultants to address market-product competition mix
  • Should have the capability to innovate product-based solutions based on changing market and customer requirements
  • Should have a flair for understanding technology platforms which are prevalent in market/competition
  • Should have ability to translate customer problems into features and design requirements
  • Demonstrates behaviors indicative of Allscripts values

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 35-50%

Working Arrangements:

  • Remote Office possibility
  • Work is performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards
  • Substantial time is spent working on a computer
