About the Role:

Contributes to Boston Scientific’s mission of saving lives through the application of lean and lean tools in both manufacturing and non-manufacturing settings. Supports the advancement of lean through training and coaching as well as hands-on application of lean tools to identify and implement innovative solutions that eliminate waste and optimize value for our customers.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Someone in this role would require some but limited mentorship throughout project work to ensure consistent understanding and application of Lean on our manufacturing lines, in business processes, and in the product development lifecycle. An ideal candidate would have experience with the items listed below;

  • Responsible for partnering cross-functionally and across Boston Scientific sites to drive value improvement all while ensuring great customer service and quality needs are met.
  • Responsible for supporting the development and implementation of projects intended to help achieve year-over-year metric improvements in the following categories; Safety, Ergonomics, Labor Efficiency, Floor Space, WIP, Cycle Time & CI Count.
  • Responsible for understanding, leveraging, improving, and sustaining the following Lean principles, tools and systems; Work Content Graph (line balancing), Standard Work, Standard WIP, Visual Staffing Plans, Variation Tracking, Value Stream Mapping, Pull Systems, 5S, 8 Forms of Waste & Continuous Improvement Systems.
  • Responsible for leading large-scale projects potentially impacting multiple processes, products and sites (product transfers, acquisitions, etc.). Other responsibilities may include collecting and analyzing data to guide decision making, coordinating and facilitating cross-functional kaizen events & capturing project savings in our Value Improvement Process (VIP) system.
  • Responsible for understanding, adhering to and promoting the following Principles; Go See, Create Pull & Flow, Build in Quality, Focus on Process, Align to Strategy, Place Customers First, Engage People, and Engage Value Improvement.
  • Responsible for mentoring and coaching others regarding concepts relevant to Industrial Engineering and Lean. Will be responsible for facilitating Lean trainings.

What We’re Looking for In You:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in medical device industry. If you do not have medical device experience, then a minimum of 7 plus years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge and application of Lean tools and principals
  • Proficient user AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Ability to solve large scale complex problems through robust data analysis
  • Ability to lead a large cross functional team toward a shared vision
  • Ability to mentor and coach others

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma Certification
  • Project Management Certification
