The Opportunity

JET are currently seeking a HR Associate Employee Relations Specialist to join our People Operations Team.

You’ll play a fundamental role providing specialist first line support for our employees and managers across JET. You’ll be working alongside other People Associates (Employee Relations) in the team in managing a number of complex ER cases, providing coaching and guidance to managers through JETs policies and processes, whilst also providing insight on any case data to the wider People team and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

We seek to enhance the lives of our people everywhere by identifying ways in which our employees, managers and our own team can work smarter and more efficiently; driving process simplification, standardisation, self-service & optimisation. With this in mind, key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Coach and develop our managers in case management to maximise their confidence and capability and consistency
  • Upskill managers in technical and practical people skills, reducing their reliance on the People Partners and wider People Team
  • Drive and facilitate best practice and consistency in employee and manager experience by providing advice and guidance across the business
  • Guide and coach managers with complex cases (e.g. performance/ disciplinary/ grievance investigations, hearings and appeals)
  • Provide basic generalist HR and employment law advice ensuring consistency, fairness and empathy (we’ve got tools in place with CIPD Inform and Employment Lawyers that we work with for more complex support)
  • Work with our People Partners and members of the People team on key business projects and take the lead on ER considerations and impact
  • Work with colleagues across the People Team on the design and delivery of training for line managers (e.g. investigations, note-taking, mental health, sickness and absence management)
  • Ensure our case management (ER) data is accurate and up to date
  • Analyse the data to identify trends and any issues and improvement opportunities
  • Update Policies and Procedures in line with Business, regulatory and legislative requirements
  • Manage absence cases and long term sickness cases within the business, liaising with our Occupational Health provider as required
  • Be a strong team player within People Operations & Systems and our wider team
  • Bring excellent attention to detail and accuracy; ensuring facts are correct, complete and consistent
  • Drive our Employee Experience agenda through key people policy updates and development to improve the effectiveness of the business in line with our overall business strategy

Required skills and experience

  • Proven experience within an Employee Relations role and/or Operational experience in a fast paced environment
  • Experience of dealing with People and Business driven ER issues and managing a large volume of ER cases at anyone time to conclusion
  • A credible ER Specialist, with ability to develop and build relationships quickly and effectively across all levels within the wider People team and Business
  • Good understanding of Employment Law and application
  • Experience of compromise agreements and ACAS proceedings along with good understanding of tribunals and how to mitigate risk of ET claims in advising Managers
  • Strong communication, listening and influencing skills
  • Great team player who is also self motivated
  • Delivering training to all Management levels
  • Organised and the ability to effectively plan, manage and prioritise workloads, work under pressure with good attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret, analyse and present people data (providing trends, insights, case reviews and recommendations)
  • Part of fully CIPD qualified or equivalent
