Position: Senior iOS Engineer (Core Team)

Reports to: iOS Tech Manager

Location: London/Bristol

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and talented Senior iOS Engineer to join the growing iOS team within Just Eat Takeaway, working on the flagship food-ordering apps, contributing to, and shaping its future.

You will be part of the Core Team of developers, working to improve infrastructure code, adopting and developing architectural practices to further improve the reliability and performance of the app.

You will have access to like-minded developers, with whom you can collaborate, discuss ideas and concepts, pair-with, challenge and be challenged.

You will be encouraged to grow within the company, having opportunities to present research findings and suggestions. You will be able to try out new ideas and concepts, keep up to date with the latest technologies and be able to mentor others.

You will be able to demonstrate your extensive knowledge to the iOS ecosystem helping solve deeper technological and architectural issues which may arise.

Key Responsibilities

• Be an expert in the art of writing high quality, well tested code within a large engineering team.
• Be a committed player in a highly cohesive team, demonstrating trust and commitment.
• Keeping to standards and processes that have been agreed by the team, as well as creating, contributing-to and helping shape those standards.
• Have a continuous improvement agenda whereby you can communicate with and learn from your colleagues, as well as using your learnings to make a valuable contribution to the wider team and the apps.
• Contributing to the availability, security and scalability of our iOS platform.
• Communicating the technical work of your team to other engineering teams.
• Taking responsibility for supporting your changes all the way through to proving that they work well – and continue to work well – in production.
• Releasing new versions to the store (~2 weeks) and supporting those changes all the way through to operating successfully in customers’ hands.
• Contributing to the reviewing and merging of your team’s pull requests, after those automated tests have passed.
• Coming up with awesome ideas to implement in the apps!

Required skills and experience

• Swift / SwiftUI
• Integration, Unit and UI Tests
• Demonstrable experience in building stable software with high attention to detail
• Demonstrable experience of a deep knowledge of the iOS ecosystem
• Integration with server-side APIs
• Continuous integration
• Strong understanding of developing software in isolated and reusable components
• An understanding of code design for efficiency and readability
