At Metromile, we are in the business of inventing smarter ways to manage risks. We need an Underwriting Assistant to join the team to continue bringing our mission to life in our Insurance department.

We need someone who is familiar with auto insurance and has eagerness to learn and grow in the underwriting skills and knowledge. Someone who can conduct individual risk assessments and analyze overall guidelines and processes to improve our book and grow profitably.

You will

• Perform quality assurance for automated systems to ensure proper evaluation of policy applications, endorsements, and renewals
• Manually review policies flagged for verification and/or review through internal/external data sources, customer initiated verification, sales/service interaction and/or claims
• Perform quality evaluation of data received from 3rd party vendors including costs
• Assist with ad-hoc and special projects

About you

• Strong analytical skills
• Detail Oriented and organized
• Thrives in a fast paced environment
• Solid computer skills with intermediate to advanced knowledge of spreadsheet software
• Enthusiasm to identify problem areas and implement underwriting actions
• 1+ years of personal auto insurance experience, underwriting experience preferred
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
