Job Description

What You'll Do

In this role, you'll work with the People Team to provide an amazing and engaging experience for our Japanese employees. You'll have the opportunity to scale best HR practices and operations across the region. You will utilise your exceptional collaboration skills at both a global and localised level, influencing and partnering with key stakeholders across the business. There will be plenty of scope to showcase these skills with an enthusiastic, motivated and inclusive team.

In addition, you'll also:

  • Partner with local and global People Operations teams on HR priorities, rollouts, and local requirements. Inclusive of but not limited to: benefits strategy, people systems, onboarding, employee engagements
  • Partner with local legal counsel and be capable of representing the local employment legal requirements unique to each country, risks, and necessary actions
  • Build, scale, and document HR operations and processes for the Japan team
  • Work with local teams and managers to provide appropriate guidance related to people needs (performance, absence, etc.)
  • Proactively engage with manager, team, and employee issues across the region, offering advice and counsel
  • Partner with local G&A teams to ensure alignment across the region on operational support

Who You Are

You're an HR professional with 5-7 years of experience working in a global company. You're excited by the prospect of rolling up your sleeves to tackle meaningful problems each and every day. You’re a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver who seeks and gives candid feedback, and values the chance to make an important impact.

  • 5+ years of experience in a generalist HR/People role in Japan at a global company
  • You have employment law expertise in Japan
  • You have strong skills within the HR function including employee relations, benefits, pay regulations, compliance, communications, and change management
  • You have a strong track record of being able to learn and scale effectively into new countries
  • You have a BA/BS or relevant experience that demonstrates ability to influence business outcomes through the development of people
  • You have experience working with HRIS systems and scale
  • You are able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • You are proficient in both English and Japanese languages

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to navigate regional support in a global environments
