Job Description

📍London/Remote

About us:

We’re here to make money work for everyone and we're doing things differently. For too long, banking has been obtuse, complex and opaque.

We want to change that and build a bank with everyone, for everyone. Our amazing community suggests features, test the app and give us constant feedback so we can build something everyone loves.

We're focused on solving problems, rather than selling financial products. We want to make the world a better place and change people's lives through Monzo.

About our Finance Team:

We are looking for a Manager to lead the build of a Technology squad who will support Monzo’s Finance function. The squad will span the Finance function and will be responsible for delivering and maintaining systems for our core accounting, regulatory reporting, treasury and financial planning & analysis teams.

You’ll be responsible for vendor selection, configuration, maintenance and administration of third party systems to make sure Monzo’s Finance function maximises the value we get out of our financial software. You will also make sure centrally developed Monzo systems are fit for purpose.

Our Systems

We currently use the following systems across our finance function. You will be responsible for making sure these systems are operating effectively and will help set out the future of these and any new systems:

  • NetSuite as our accounting system / General Ledger
  • Anaplan as our financial planning and forecasting system

Your day-to-day y ou will:

  • Support the selection of any new systems/vendors across the finance function (including Treasury), working closely with the finance and programme management teams to help make sure we choose the right vendors
  • Support the implementation of any new systems across finance, making sure they are set up and designed to support our financial business processes
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and solve any problems with existing software, including updates, configuration changes and upgrades
  • Support relationship management with vendors, make sure we are getting the support we need and the project work is on track
  • Work closely with engineering to make sure we have top-notch data quality and help monitor data flows between systems
  • Train Monzonauts on the use of any new software applications
  • Work across with (non-Finance) squads in Monzo to support the strategic direction and workload of Finance

You should apply if you have:

  • In-depth knowledge of at least one accounting/ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system and operating principles (e.g. Oracle EBS, SAP, NetSuite)
  • Experience working within in banking/finance and supporting financial business processes
  • Experience working closely with software vendors, software engineers and data teams
  • Experience working closely with embedded data analysts/scientists
  • Experience working with SQL and data visualisation tooling (such as Looker, Tableau, etc.)
  • Experience designing and implementing technical infrastructure for systems support and monitoring
  • Ability to comprehend complex technical requirements and to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience of working across technical and non-technical stakeholders to align objectives and oversee delivery

Nice to have:

  • Some programming experience, familiarity with at least one programming language (go lang, python, ruby)
  • Used to agile ways of working (Kanban, Scrum) tracked in JIRA or Trello

The Interview Process:

Our interview process involves 3 main stages:

  1. 30 mins phone call with a recruiter
  2. An initial call with someone from the team
  3. 2-3 interviews remotely via hangouts

Our average process takes around 2-3 weeks but we will always work around your availability. You will have the chance to speak to our recruitment team at various points during your process but if you do have any specific questions ahead of this please contact us on [email protected]

What’s in it for you:

📍This role can be based in our London office, but we're open to distributed working within the UK (with ad hoc meetings in London).

⏰ We offer flexible working hours and trust you to work enough hours to do your job well, at times that suit you and your team.

📚Learning budget of £1,000 a year for books, training courses and conferences

➕And much more, see our full list of benefits here

If you prefer to work part-time, we'll make this happen whenever we can - whether this is to help you meet other commitments or strike a great work-life balance.
