About our Treasury Team:

Our Treasury team is growing and we’re looking for a Head of Balance Sheet Management (BSM) to join the team. You’ll report into the Deputy Treasurer with oversight from the Treasurer and be responsible for the day-to-day balance sheet risk management and optimisation.

Your core job will be managing all aspects of balance sheet risks, particularly interest rate and liquidity. You will develop and implement the Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) framework, and enhance the existing Asset and Liability Management (ALM) framework. You will also need to have working knowledge of other areas of Treasury in a bank. This includes understanding of hedging instruments, financial markets and being willing to help and develop the overall Treasury team.

Your day-to-day

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing all aspects of balance sheet risks, such as interest rate, liquidity including intraday and foreign exchange. Ensuring adherence to the internal and regulatory requirements
  • Developing and enhancing the current ALM framework, policies and models including stress testing scenarios/approaches
  • Delivering the ILAAP for Monzo and contributing to the production of the applicable ICAAP/RRP/LCP sections
  • Delivering the implementation of an ALM system
  • Managing and owning relationships with Business units so that the balance sheet risks are understood for new initiatives
  • Assisting in working capital management, communicating with business units so they understand their funding needs and develop the Funding Plan accordingly
  • Preparing the ALCO pack and presenting at ALCO when required
  • Designing and driving the implementation of best practice FTP framework
  • Leading, motivating and inspiring the BSM team. Developing capability and ensuring succession planning.
  • Promoting and representing Monzo at industry functions/forums to develop and drive initiatives such as balance sheet optimisation strategy
  • Developing relationships with regulator where required
  • Leading best practice approach to all areas of Treasury operations
  • Working with teams across finance, second line & third line defence teams

You should apply if you have:

  • Significant experience working at a bank with great knowledge of several areas of Treasury (particularly ALM)
  • Extensive knowledge of standards that are expected by regulators and how to deliver against them
  • The desire to have a key role in developing how Treasury works at Monzo
  • Proven ability to coordinate, participate and lead teams
  • Experience building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels within the business
  • Excitement for what Monzo is doing!

The Interview Process:

Our interview process involves 3 main stages:

  1. 30 mins phone call with a recruiter
  2. An initial call with someone from the team
  3. 2-3 interviews remotely via hangouts
