What will you be doing?

The Compliance Advisory Manager is a senior member of the US Compliance Team, reporting directly to the Chief Compliance Officer. The US Compliance Team is a part of the larger Global Compliance Team which is an essential component of Funding Circle’s second line of defence risk framework. The Compliance Team advises, assists, challenges and tests the Business Teams with respect to compliance with regulatory requirements and Funding Circle policies. Your role as the leader of the Compliance Advisory Team will be to work closely with your Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, and Business Team colleagues to strengthen the Funding Circle Risk Framework and, in particular, the Compliance Advisory function.

• Proactively engage with business partners at all levels on relevant regulatory and policy matters.
• Lead on the development and maintenance of compliance risk policies, standards and training programs.
• Lead on the development of the annual Compliance Advisory Plan.
• Co-lead, with the Head of Compliance Monitoring & Testing, on the Compliance Risk Assessment.
• Be the subject matter expert on specific laws and regulations that govern Funding Circle’s lending program, as agreed with the Chief Compliance Officer.
• Support the development of more junior members of the Compliance Team.
• Review and approve marketing materials, business team standards and other compliance related materials.
• Carry out other work as directed by the Chief Compliance Officer.

Are you?

• A strong compliance professional, with a minimum of 5 years Compliance Advisory or Monitoring & Testing experience in a related financial services business. Knowledge of commercial lending or SBA lending would be an advantage.
• A great communicator - strong oral and written communications skills.
• Curious – always seeking to understand the root cause of any issue.
• Entrepreneurial/self-starter – able to work independently to deliver significant volumes of work.
• Someone who has a commercial and practical approach to challenging issues with an ability to remain objective and independent.
• Dynamic –ambitious and able to adapt to changing circumstances.
• Determined – ability to understand and overcome obstacles.
