ABOUT THE JOB

As an Android Developer at Guidebook, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, QA, front end, back end, and iOS engineers. Reporting to our VP of Engineering, Chris Casey, you'll be an integral part of a tight-knit mobile team. This role is perfect for an engineer eager to utilize their technical expertise to impact the team's success by taking ownership of projects and being a crucial technical partner to their manager. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with product and cross-functional teams to complete projects and influence the codebase's direction.
  • Take ownership of a large-scale project with the support of your manager.
  • Make daily commits and become a key technical partner.
  • Break down large features into manageable tasks.
  • Identify security risks and areas for improvement in the codebase.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience :

  • Proven track record of at least 3 years in Android app development.
  • Proficiency in Java and Kotlin programming languages.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with Android SDK, NDK, and various Android versions.
  • Ability to develop and optimize Android applications.

Architecture and Design:

  • Understanding of basic software architecture principles and design patterns.
  • Exposure to architectural paradigms such as MVVM.

Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Capacity to work collaboratively within a development team.
  • Effective communication skills with team members and stakeholders.

Code Quality and Testing:

  • Commitment to producing clean, readable, and well-documented code.
  • Basic understanding of unit testing and testing best practices.

Code Reviews:

  • Willingness to engage in code reviews and learn from feedback.
  • Ability to contribute constructively to the code review process.

Continuous Learning:

  • Eagerness to stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Openness to learning and adopting new tools and frameworks.

Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical challenges with guidance.
  • Willingness to seek help and learn from more experienced team members.

Git and Version Control:

  • Familiarity with Git for version control and collaboration through the peer review process..

App Deployment:

  • Experience with the end-to-end process of app deployment on Google Play Store.
  • Familiarity with the latest Android app distribution practices.

Bachelor's or Master's Degree:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

COMPENSATION

A competitive salary of $100,000-140,000, depending on relevant experience.
