ABOUT THE JOB

As a Senior Android Developer at Guidebook, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, QA, front end, back end, and iOS engineers. Reporting to our VP of Engineering, Chris Casey, you'll be an integral part of a tight-knit mobile team. This role is perfect for an engineer eager to utilize their technical expertise to impact the team's success by taking ownership of projects and being a crucial technical partner to their manager. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with product and cross-functional teams to complete projects and influence the codebase's direction.
  • Take ownership of a large-scale project with the support of your manager.
  • Mentor other mobile team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment to enhance the overall team expertise.
  • Make daily commits and become a key technical partner.
  • Break down large features into manageable tasks.
  • Identify security risks and areas for improvement in the code base.
  • Collaborate with iOS engineers to build high-quality features.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience :

  • Proven track record of at least 5 years in Android app development.
  • Extensive experience working with Java and Kotlin languages.

Technical Proficiency:

  • In-depth knowledge of Android SDK, NDK, and different versions of Android.
  • Expertise in building and optimizing high-performance Android applications.

Architecture and Design:

  • Strong understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns.
  • Experience with MVVM and other architectural paradigms.

Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of Android developers.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Code Quality and Testing:

  • Commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Proficient in unit testing and other testing best practices.

Code Reviews:

  • Proven experience conducting and participating in thorough code reviews.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and mentor junior team members.

Continuous Learning:

  • Passion for staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
  • Willingness to learn and adopt new tools and frameworks.

Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.

Git and Version Control:

  • Proficient in using Git for version control and collaboration through the peer review process.

App Deployment:

  • Experience with the end-to-end process of app deployment on Google Play Store.
  • Familiarity with the latest Android app distribution practices.

Bachelor's or Master's Degree:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

COMPENSATION

A competitive salary of $140,000-160,000, depending on relevant experience.
