Girls Who Code is seeking an aspiring human resources professional to join our People & Culture team. Are you eager to explore a career in HR? As a trusted member of our People & Culture team, you will provide warm, organized, and friendly support for our staff. In this position you will gain human resources experience by performing various administrative tasks to support the department's daily activities and broader team initiatives. In addition, you will work closely with the People Operations Manager, learning the ins and outs of managing key tasks, which will include benefits, onboarding, and record retention. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to impact the overall success of the team!
This position is based in our New York City office. Candidates must able to meet the requirements of our hybrid schedule, which requires two in-office days per week. Responsibilities
- Assist with the maintenance of electronic personnel files and filing systems (actives, terminations, I9’s, etc.). Including, but not limited to creating new folders, scanning and filing paperwork, and ensuring files are stored accurately
- Send new hires required compliance trainings and track status to ensure completion
- Help set up new hire workstations for their first day
- Posting open jobs on recruitment sites; conducting research as needed
- Ad hoc support of talent acquisition projects
- Prepare HR-related reports as needed
- Help prepare Word, PowerPoint, and Excel documents
- Sort and distribute department mail
- File documents into appropriate employee files and maintain active and terminated employee files according to regulatory requirements
- Greet and direct staff, vendors, and visitors upon arrival
- Respond or redirect staff inquiries to the appropriate P&C team member
- Assisting in the planning of company events
- Assist with clearing and sorting org merchandise in our long-term storage
- Support with the filming of facilities safety videos
- Support with culture events
Qualifications and Requirements:
- At least two years of related experience; prior work at a non-profit is a plus
- Proficient in using G-Suite, Adobe PDF, comfortable using Slack and ability to pick up other tech tools and systems, like MS SharePoint and an applicant tracking system
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects
- Empathetic and approachable with excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times
- Comfort working in a dynamic environment; flexibility and adaptability are important
- Work within our hybrid model (2 days per week in-office)

$42,000 - $57,000 a year

At Girls Who Code, our compensation philosophy is to hire at or near the midpoint of a range. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
