CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for a Software Release Train Engineer (RTE) within our Intel sector advancing the national security mission through cutting edge technology. You must have a passion for keeping pace with rapidly evolving technology advancements and leveraging your knowledge on a highly collaborative team to deliver state-of-the-art capabilities.
The Software Release Train Engineer (RTE) facilitates and manages the flow of value through an Agile Release Train (ART), ensuring smooth and efficient software releases. They act as a servant leader and coach for the ART, optimizing processes, resolving impediments, and fostering continuous improvement. RTEs work closely with various stakeholders, including product management, development teams, and other ART leaders, to align strategy and execution, manage risks, and ensure successful delivery.

This position is located in our Arlington office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Facilitate ART events: RTEs plan and facilitate key ART events like PI Planning, system demos, and Inspect & Adapt events.
• Optimize flow: They focus on optimizing the flow of value through the ART, identifying and removing bottlenecks, and ensuring efficient processes.
• Coach and mentor: RTEs coach teams and individuals on Lean-Agile practices, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
• Manage dependencies: They identify and manage dependencies between teams and across the ART, ensuring alignment and coordinated efforts.
• Manage risks and impediments: RTEs proactively identify and manage risks, impediments, and dependencies that could impact the ART's progress.
• Communicate and collaborate: They facilitate communication and collaboration between stakeholders, ensuring alignment on strategy, execution, and overall goals.
• Drive continuous improvement: RTEs champion continuous improvement within the ART, utilizing data and feedback to identify areas for optimization.
• Ensure alignment: They work with Product Management, System Architects, and Business Owners to ensure alignment on vision, strategy, and execution.
• Support PI planning: RTEs participate in PI planning, helping teams define their objectives and dependencies.
• Monitor and report: They track ART performance, monitor progress against goals, and report on key metrics.
• Promote a healthy ART: RTEs foster a positive and productive environment within the ART, ensuring team well-being and collaboration.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree and/or 5 to 8 years of experience
• Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI with Poly; active TS/SCI with Poly highly desired.
• SAFe RTE certification is preferred
• Deep understanding of Agile and SAFe: RTEs need a strong understanding of Agile methodologies, particularly SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: They must be able to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and build strong relationships.
• Strong facilitation and coaching skills: RTEs need to be able to facilitate meetings, coach teams, and mentor individuals.
• Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills: They need to be able to identify and resolve impediments and conflicts within the ART.
• Ability to manage risks and dependencies: RTEs must be able to proactively identify and manage risks and dependencies that could impact the ART.
• Experience with Agile tools: They should be familiar with Agile tools like Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps.
• Leadership and servant leadership
skills: RTEs need to be able to lead and motivate teams while also serving their needs.
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $88,200.00 - $190,900.00.
