18 Career Coach Resume Examples (2026)
by Sam WrightEighteen career coach resume examples, from entry level to executive, built from 140 real career-coaching job postings and a data-backed writing guide.
Build a resume for freeA career coach resume has one job: to prove you can move other people's careers forward. The strongest ones read like the coaching itself, specific, warm, and grounded in outcomes rather than adjectives. Below are 18 career coach resume examples, from a first campus internship to an executive practice, each built from real resumes and the skills employers actually ask for.
To build these, we studied 140 real career-coaching job postings from 103 companies and drew on Huntr's database of 225,000 analyzed resumes. Our own research on 1.7 million applications shapes the advice throughout. Every example here is illustrative, tuned to what those postings ask for and anonymized so it points to no single person. It was written by Sam Wright, who has taken more than 900 one-on-one calls with job seekers.

What Strong Career Coach Resumes Have in Common
Across the 140 postings we studied, one profile kept surfacing. The resumes that match it share five things.
- They name the coaching skill outright. Coaching appears in 39 of the 140 postings and career coaching in 23. The strongest resumes use those exact words instead of vague talk about helping people.
- They quantify client outcomes. Interview preparation shows up in 17 postings and mock interviews in 8. Winning resumes turn that work into numbers: clients coached, placement rates, salary gains, satisfaction scores.
- They carry an assessment toolkit. MBTI, StrengthsFinder, DISC, and the Strong Interest Inventory recur across the set. Naming the instruments you actually use signals that you can run a structured coaching process.
- They pair warmth with tools. Communication leads the skills at 44 postings, but employers also ask for resume-writing craft (13), LinkedIn optimization (6), and Microsoft Office (7). The best resumes show both the human and the technical side.
- They rarely start here. Most career coaches arrive from teaching, HR, counseling, recruiting, or the military. The resumes that work translate that earlier experience into coaching outcomes instead of hiding it.
Career Coach Resume Examples
The examples run from entry level to executive, then through the specialties searchers ask about most: higher education, corporate, outplacement, non-profit, tech, healthcare, finance, counseling, HR, government, military transition, entrepreneurship, and international coaching. Each one is labeled with the real postings it was built from.
Entry-Level Career Coach Resume
Illustrative example
Built from the 140 career-guidance postings we studied, of which only 3 hire at the entry level, so this example leans on what those junior listings still ask for: interview preparation, named in 17 postings, and resume writing in 13, down to the campus career center where a psychology grad first ran mock interviews for undergraduates.

Skills for a Career Coach Resume
Pull your skills straight from the postings you are targeting. Across the 140 we studied, these came up most. Group them so a reader can scan.
- Coaching and assessment: career coaching, one-on-one coaching, workshop facilitation, MBTI, StrengthsFinder, DISC, and the Strong Interest Inventory.
- Job-search craft: resume writing (13 postings), interview preparation (17), mock interviews (8), LinkedIn optimization (6), job search strategy (15), and networking (15).
- Tools and soft skills: Microsoft Office (7), Excel, and Google Docs, plus the human core, communication (44 postings), empathy (10), and relationship building (15).
List the instruments you actually use. A coach who names MBTI and the Strong Interest Inventory reads as more credible than one who writes "assessment tools."
Action Verbs for Career Coach Resumes
Open every bullet with a verb that shows movement. For coaching outcomes: coached, guided, placed, advanced, prepared. For programs: designed, facilitated, launched, scaled. For relationships: partnered, recruited, advised, connected.
Weak bullets describe duties. Strong ones show a result: not "responsible for career workshops," but "facilitated 40 career workshops that helped 120 clients land interviews."
Turn a Weak Bullet Into a Strong One
Weak
Helped clients with their resumes and job search.
Strong
Coached 60+ clients through resume rewrites and targeted job searches, lifting their interview rate by about a third.
The fix is not length, it is specificity. Name the number of clients, the action, and the outcome. If you do not track results yet, start now: even a rough count beats none.
Career Coach vs Career Counselor
The two roles overlap, but a resume should pick a lane. A career coach is forward-looking and tactical, focused on job searches, interviews, and advancement. A career counselor often works deeper and holds a clinical or academic credential, closer to a counselor resume than a coach's. If your work leans therapeutic, lead with the counseling; if it leans job-search results, lead with the coaching.
Get a Career Coach Resume Past the Screeners
Most resumes are read by software before a person sees them. Use the exact skill words from the posting, career coaching, interview preparation, workshop facilitation, so a scanner can match them. Run your draft through a keyword scanner, then tailor it to each job. Coaches who tailor see far better response rates, the same advice we give clients.
Career Coach Resume FAQ
How long should a career coach resume be?
One page early on, two pages once you have several years and real outcomes to show. Two-page resumes perform as well or better than one-page ones at every level, so do not cut results to fit an arbitrary limit.
What certifications help a career coach resume?
The ICF credentials (ACC, PCC, MCC), the Certified Professional Career Coach (CPCC), and the Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW) all signal training. List the ones you hold near the top; they carry weight in a field with no single required license.
How do I write a career coach resume with no experience?
Lead with transferable work, teaching, HR, recruiting, mentoring, or peer advising, and frame it as coaching. Add any assessment tools you know and a certification in progress. The entry-level example above shows the shape.
What skills should be on a career coach resume?
The ones the posting names. Across the set we studied, that meant coaching, communication, interview preparation, resume writing, and a named assessment toolkit, balanced with empathy and relationship building.
Methodology
These examples are illustrative. We built them from 140 real career-coaching job postings across 103 companies and from patterns in Huntr's database of 225,000 analyzed resumes. Each one is tuned to what a specific slice of those postings asks for, entry level, higher education, outplacement, and the rest.
For this role, no resume in our database that reached the interview stage was attached to the interviewed job, so we make no interview claim here. Names, employers, and figures are illustrative and trace to no single person. Where a niche is thin in the data, we say so in the label and build from the role's core skills rather than invent a trend.
Conclusion
The career coach resumes that work do what good coaching does: they get specific and they prove outcomes. Name your coaching skills in the words employers use, quantify what happened to your clients, and translate whatever you did before into coaching results. Build yours in Huntr's resume builder, then tailor it to each posting before you send it.
