Virginia Mason is seeking an Emergency Department Technician/Monitor Technician for our busy Emergency Department. This position includes duties and responsibilities of both the Patient Care Technician (C.N.A) and Monitor Technician including other specific responsibilities outlined below. The purpose of this job is to provide flexibility to meet the needs of our patients.

This role you will be responsible for:

· Providing direct patient care under the supervision of the RN.

· Providing support to nursing and physician staff by performing tasks and procedures that assist in the care and treatment of patients with illnesses and injuries.

· Organizing, replacing, and maintaining inventory and supply level in the department.

· Supporting the work of nursing, EKG, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and respiratory therapy staff.

· Performing phlebotomy, splinting, Point of Care and wound care interventions

· Providing on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RNs with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms and/or vital signs.

· Performing Patient Flow Coordinator duties in the Emergency Department


Qualifications:

We require:

· High school diploma or GED.

· Certification as a Nursing Assistant (NA-C), and as a Virginia Mason Health Care Assistant - Level A.

· EKG certification.

· Maintaining a MA-P or MA-C credential.

· Comprehensive working knowledge of, and demonstrated skill in recognizing, abnormal cardiac rhythms.

· Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, diagnostic tests/procedures, and medications.

· Strong problem solving, organizational, and time management skills.

· Ability to work independently and respond appropriately in stressful situations.

· Excellent interpersonal, and verbal and written communication, skills.

· Proficiency in using personal computer.

· Ability to assertively advocate for patient safety, by communicating the urgency of patient hemodynamic instability through monitoring of vital signs and rhythm changes from the monitor screens.

· Must pass an EKG validation test when hired and annually thereafter to ensure competency.
