The Post Anesthesia Care Unit, PACU, cares for the immediate postoperative patients in all age ranges. Post anesthesia care is provided for a range of specialties and include ambulatory, inpatient and critical care cases. Aspects of care include assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of post anesthesia care. Respiratory stability, adequate pain and nausea control, safe dermatomal level and stable vital signs are assessed. Registered nurses oversee all aspects of perioperative process including admitting, recovery and discharge.

The registered nurse provides high quality, skilled nursing services to assist patients to achieve optimum health and functional health status following an illness requiring hospitalization. Through collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals, the nurse prepares the patient and family for discharge to home or another setting for continued care.

Qualifications:

  • A current and valid Washington State Registered Nurse License is required for this position.
  • CPR certification is required every two years.
  • Must be able to obtain ACLS within 6 months of hire.
  • Previous PACU RN experience preferred.
  • Recent previous critical care and/or ED/trauma RN experience preferred.
