WORK SCHEDULE
  • 100% FTE
  • M-F; Day Shift
  • Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required as needed to attend to facility needs

  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    Harborview Facilities & Capital Development Division is comprised of several support services throughout the medical center, including Capital Development, Clinical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Operator Services, and more. All of which serve UW Medicine's mission to improve the health of the public by attending to maintenance, alterations and repairs to the buildings and systems needed to maintain patient care and a healing environment at Harborview.
    POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • Become a critical member of the Facilities administration team to ensure patient care and operational continuity of buildings and systems through multiple shutdown projects
  • Maintain a healing environment for King County's most vulnerable residents, ensuring exemplary patient care at the region's only level 1 trauma center

  • PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop a comprehensive shutdown plan including timelines, scope, resource allocation, contingency measures, critical systems shutdown procedures, detailed work packages and work in lock step with capital and construction project managers
  • Collaborate with department heads, clinical staff, maintenance teams, and contractors to define shutdown needs and priorities
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations; implement risk assessments, mitigation strategies and pre-shutdown safety briefings and trainings for all involved personnel
  • Ensure strong communication and stakeholder management addressing concerns of potential disruptions to patient care and coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth continuity of hospital operations
  • Manage logistics and execution including coordination of contractors, maintenance teams and monitor progress against shutdown plans to address delays or issues promptly
  • Evaluate key areas of improvement and document lessons learned post-shutdown

  • REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in construction management, Architecture or Engineering
  • 6 years progressive experience in construction/shutdown project management
  • Experience managing multiple, overlapping projects and teams
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements
